Today we celebrated with one of our customers after a successful launch of their project: COLS (Cargo Online Lodgement System). You can check out their press release here.
This service allows importers to electronically lodge documents about the cargo they are importing into Australia. This replaces a previous paper-based system that allowed the Department of Agriculture to monitor and review whether cargo was contaminated. It will be progressively rolled out to all of Australia’s ports by January.
“Introducing new technology is just one of the ways the department is modernising, with the launch of the Cargo Online Lodgement System representing an important first step,” Department of Agriculture’s First Assistant Secretary Compliance Division, Raelene Vivian.
Since the system was built using Oracle BPM, SOA Suite, WebCenter Portal and Identity products (go middleware!) we surprised the team with a special morning tea, including a custom built cake. Pictures after the break.
A big shout out to Linda (http://www.thecakeladycanberra.com.au/) who was able to turn our unusual requirements into a stunning cake (more piece of art!). It was so nice the customer didn’t want to cut it open (though the temptation to eat it won out eventually).
